Singing alone to Ann-Marie, I made my way through the kitchen. Qupid and I had been back home for about an hour from his shop. I knew he had gone upstairs to shower, but I didnât know what else he was doing. I wasnât really worried though, because I was in my element when I was in the kitchen. My mother always had me in the kitchen with her, watching and picking up on stuff, but when my grandmother started taking care of me, she taught me the game.
She taught me how to cook just about everything, and I knew how to make a good ass meal. If I couldnât remember anything else, I remembered that. After looking in the kitchen and due to the weather, I decided to make a home-cooked comfort meal which was chicken and noodles. I was using chicken breast instead of wings or drums like I normally would. For some reason, it just seemed like a good idea. Along with that, I was making some biscuits from scratch and broccoli.
Even though this meal didnât call for veggies, I always loved to have a vegetable with my meals to balance everything out. Once the chicken was on and boiling in the chicken broth, I decided to go upstairs and take a shower. I had changed my clothes when I came in, but I hadnât washed again. After cleaning up from the water pipe bursting, I just felt dirty as hell.
I made sure everything was good before I left out of the kitchen. I was about to go upstairs before the lit fireplace in the living room caught my eye. Making a detour, I slowly stepped in the living room, where Qupid was sitting on the couch with a glass of brown liquor in his hand. I hadnât even heard him come back down, but apparently, he had been busy.
The living room was big as hell. There was a black leather sectional, and the coffee table, usually in the middle of the room, was pushed to the left near the wall. Replacing it was a black fuzzy rug, and on top of it was a small, hot plate looking thing with metal skewers. The lights were dimmed, making the burning fire look romantic and sexy like it was dancing.
âWhat is this?â I asked Qupid, who was already looking at me with a smirk on his face.
âA little setup for our movie night. After we eat, we can chill and make some sâmores. I ordered that off Amazon a couple days ago when I saw it. Luckily, it came today while weâre snowed in.â
âOh my God. Sâmores are my favorite.â
âI know, thatâs why Iâm ya man,â Qupid boasted, making me blush.
âSee. This is why I keep saying thank you. Thank you so much. This made me even more excited for tonight.â I went over and hugged him.
I swear, this man was really putting forth the effort and not making me feel guilty for this memory loss. The more time we had together, the more I understood why I had fallen for him in the first place.
